Using Push with Reason is pretty amazing good fun.
Overview
I’ve been playing with Ableton Live for a while, that I forgot how much I loved playing with Reason. This software is so much fun to play with, it’s really a joy to make music with. I’ve used Reason for many years before getting into Live, which I started to use when I dj’ed at the Rock and Roll Hotel for a couple years in the early 2000’s. My first round of dj’ing was with turntables and vinyl records. When I got a second shot at dj’ing there I decided to move to a computer based dj’ing set up. That’s when I got into Ableton Live. Eventually, I started using Live for making music, and even headed over to Berlin for the first Loop conference. I started messing more with it, and eventually got a Push and later a Push 2.
Finding Pusher
I kept the first Push when I got my second one, but it definitely seemed redundant. I had a feeling that I could take advantage of having two Push devices at my disposal, in case one broke. When I got back into Reason, and started playing with it, I found myself reacquainted with all the things I loved about it. But I found myself missing the Push. Wouldn’t it be great to use Reason with Push… I started to go down the path of mapping Push to Reason, until I did a search for Push and Reason and found Pusher.
I was thrilled to find Pusher and learn that it was only $35. I paid for it, and pulled it down. It took me a bit of tweaking, but once I got it working, I was so very happy.
