Reviewing Sea Levels

A friend mentioned he visited Cambridge, MD the other day, and he noticed that the house he was looking at had plenty of standing water. He was really surprised that most of the town had flooded areas. He took a look at the area using NOAA’s Sea Level Rise Viewer and learned that most of the town would be flooded if the sea level were to rise a few feet more.

Vero Beach

My parents and their friends live in Vero Beach, Florida. They have a great house in a lovely community that is west from the ocean. They’re not on the island, but further inland. I entered their location to see what a rising sea level would do to their property.

Based on their location, even if the sea level rises to 10 feet, they’ll be fine. Unfortunately, the rest of the town will be in the Atlantic Ocean.
